Africa Welsh News is a source of information about News and events purposely targeted towards the African community in Wales. The Africa Welsh News website is having a facial change to improve how our readers can access and interact with news and information on the website.
It has not been an easy journey but it is said the road to success is usually a rough one. As we re-launch the new website, it is note worthy to praise the efforts of those who strived to keep this company afloat. Almost two year of covid 19 restrictions almost saw an end to Africa Welsh News.
From the onset, we started AWN started to be a source of information about News and events purposely targeted towards the African community in Wales. Also was the need for a platform where Africans in Wales have a center point for News happening at 'home'. We want this to be a site where it's not all doom and gloom but where we can highlight the positive contributions of the African community in Welsh lives. Our aim is to entertain, enlighten and empower Africans in Wales.
AWN appreciates the enthusiasm of all in the Welsh community at what we aim to achieve with this site. And it's not just from the African communities. There has been a lot of positive feedback to the whole idea and this has spurred us on when things looked really bleak.
I would love to say a big thank you to all our contributors and all those we have interviewed for this first edition. Look out for future publications for articles from Magugu (Cardiff's own pidgin rap originator), Leroy Britto (Cardiff and Wales first black stand up comedian)as well amazing array of entrepreneurs in all fields ranging from cosmetics to art.
We are also be interviewing the coordinators of Yoruba nation and Cameroonian Daniel Nur for future publications so look out for these.
We at Africa Welsh News would like to wish the Nigerian nation a happy Independence Day. To celebrate the event, Cardiff's own Magnificent DJ Dot would be banging out Afrobeats tunes at Tiger Tiger in Cardiff.
